Postdoctoral Researchers in Neuroscience Program Laboratories

Elizabeth Gillard, Ph.D. (Currás-Collazo lab; Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience; 951-827-3709).  I am interested in investigating the role of peptide neurotransmitters in modulation of amino acid neurotransmitter release from neurons (a common theme in nervous system function) using the supraoptic nucleus as a model system.

Trynke de Jong, Ph.D. (Saltzman lab; Department of Biology; 951-827-5929). Project: Neurobiology and neuroanatomy of paternal behavior in the California mouse (Peromyscus californicus). I will combine behavioral testing with neuroanatomical techniques such as immunocytochemistry of Fos and neuropeptides.

Yu-Feng Wang, M.D., Ph.D. (Hatton lab; Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience; 951-827-5099 or 2-5099). Electrophysiology of the hypothalamus: electrical and chemical synaptic mechanisms of oxytocin neuron burst synchrony; mechanisms of peptide release from supraoptic nucleus dendrites.

Kenneth C. Welch Jr., Ph.D. (Altshuler Lab; Department of Biology and Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience; 951-827-4030). I am interested in the neuromuscular control of flight. In particular, I am interested in how neuromuscular activation pattern influences muscle mechanical power output during hovering flight. See website: http://www.faculty.ucr.edu/~kenwelch/.
